The Wirtschaftswoche Best of Consulting Award
Munich, Mannheim, 12/04/2019 BSH Hausgeräte GmbH (BSH), Europe’s largest manufacturer of home appliances, and CAMELOT Management Consultants received the Wirtschaftswoche Best of Consulting Award for their “IMPulse” transformation project. Key factors in their victory in the “Operations” category included some impressive improvements to the level of customer service, inventory and efficiency, as well as creativity, the innovative nature of their approach, and a highly effective management of the complex transformation project.
A core element of “IMPulse” is the transformation into an integrated, global supply chain according to the new paradigm of Demand-Driven Supply Chain Management. “In light of the increasing complexity and volatility of markets, for many companies there is now no alternative to the transformation of the supply chain on the basis of ‘Demand-Driven’ methodology. As a pioneer, BSH Management also recognized this at an early stage and consistently implemented the innovative approach,” says Dr. Josef Packowski, Managing Partner at CAMELOT. The “Demand-Driven” approach ensures the resilience of the supply chain. In the case of BSH, this means that the home appliance manufacturer can offer its 50,000-plus customers worldwide perfect customer service, with optimum inventories and reduced costs, in spite of both significant volatility in demand and a highly complex market.
“With IMPulse we are implementing a global supply chain which uniquely integrates and synchronizes all the horizontal and vertical levels of the supply chain according to the principles of Demand-Driven Supply Chain Management.” adds Thorsten Rosenberg, Executive Vice President and Head of Global Supply Chain at BSH. “As our consulting partner, CAMELOT supported us fully with this transformation, from the idea and the concept through to their practical implementation.”
The implementation of an integrated, global supply chain organization and the introduction of the new supply chain operating model, “Demand-Driven Supply Chain Management”, require a complete rethink by everyone involved. So the key to the success of the transformation lies in the people. “From the outset the project was characterized by very well coordinated communication between everyone involved and mutually appreciative cooperation, all taking place on an equal footing,” says Michael Huber, IMPulse Program Manager at BSH, describing the successful change management in the project.
Another crucial factor was the systems-related support for the new processes and procedures. In this case BSH chose the cloud solution SAP Integrated Business Planning, the implementation of which was supported by the CAMELOT-affiliated company Camelot ITLab.
“For a project of this magnitude you need a strong external partner that is also capable of implementation. In the CAMELOT Group we found a partner that not only contributes market-leading conceptual expertise in Demand-Driven Supply Chain Management, but is also a pioneer in the implementation of the new methodology in SAP solutions,” comments Dietmar Baumann, who heads the IT operations pertaining to IMPulse at BSH, working together with CAMELOT.
Wirtschaftswoche gives its Best of Consulting Award to the best consulting projects every year. The award was handed over to BSH and CAMELOT at a festive ceremony in Düsseldorf yesterday (Tuesday).
